| After
nearly half a century we are throwing our doors wide open.
We believe that our valued patrons should know now about
the care and concern that go behind each tasty sweet that
satisfy their palates.
We are in the sweetmeat trade so long that very few
people remember today we began in the year 1950, with
only one retail outlet at Central Road, Jadavpur, Calcutta.
Since the beginning, we are different from others. We
were committed to produce high quality sweets in a clean,
sanitized way. Because, we value the good health and
well being of our patrons as much as were concerned
about keeping the glorious tradition of Bengal's confectionary
alive. We believe that besides being tasty, the sweets
you eat should also keep you fit. And serving such sweets
to the nation is our solemn pledge.
Our patrons have all along been appreciative and supportive
to our efforts. So much so, in fact, that now in 2004
we have grown to five retail outlets. We have been amply
rewarded and we are grateful for it.

| And
now an Inside Story... |
|
..
[ which is kept secret by almost all in the
sweetmeat industry, but which we feel proud
to divulge]
. |
Yes, about the kitchens, the workshops where sweets
are made. The filthy atmosphere prevailing at these
places is a byword, known to all inside and outside
the industry.
But not so at the Hindusthan Sweets workshop.
Here a neat and clean view will greet all visitors.
Why not come someday, with your family and friends,
and see the exceptional workshop.
|
| Step
inside, and you will find : |
 |
A
polished marble floor, mirror-clean, free from filth
and puddles of water. |
 |
Workers
working at tables and work desks, not squatting
or crouching on the floor. |
 |
Plastered
walls gleaming with plastic emulsion coats of paint. |
 |
A
peculiar absence of flies, mosquitoes and other
germ-carrying insects. |
 |
That
traditional unhygienic manual handling of ingredients
is being replaced by machines, thereby cutting down
the risk of any infection. For example, the grinding
of ingredients is done by semi-automatic grinding
machine. |
 |
A
great emphasis on cleanliness and sanitation, as
evident even from the clean marbled lavatory and
toilet with non-corrosion sanitary fittings, and
wash floor for cleaning utensils, which are so different
from those at other workshops in the industry. Also,
no shoes carrying dust and grime from outside are
allowed in our workshop. |
 |
A
modern cold storage to keep the ingredients fresh
and hygienic. |
 |
That
there is a semi-automatic canning plant for packing
Rosgullas, Gulab-jamuns, etc. in cans, that will
keep them fresh for atleast six months. |
 |
Our
new Quality Control Laboratory which keeps constant
vigil on the quality and hygienic aspects of the
ingredients and finished products. A full fledged
lab like us is the first and the only one in the
country where sweetmeat industry is concerned. |
 |
A
lot of checks and steps to prevent environmental
pollution. Even the traditional coal-ovens used
elsewhere, belching out harmful smoke, are absent.
Compressed diesel gas-burner with chimneys and proper
ventilation systems are in use here for fight against
pollution. |
